Don't you need to store anything you uploaded to bitcasa locally first?

It'd be nice to have the uninstaller have an option to remove on a second run, as that's a common user interface concept for OS X.

I have some 40 gigs of photos on Bitcasa. Access time for those items is so slow and slugish I decided to ditch Bitcasa (even thought I have 100 GB of cache set up).
As FAQ states when one disconnects or removes a folder that folder is restored to version PRIOR cloudification. In plain english - YOU LOOS EVERYTHING you made while beeing cloudified.
Only way to safely get all of your data is to copy files from cloudfied folder to a uncloudified location on your computer. Asumming that will work since all your files are in the Bitcasa cloud and getting all of them in one stroke is not what Bitcasa is made for (remember the slow folder access, items missing and so on ...)
Well, that sucks! Big time! If this basic unplug issiue is not resolved you better stay away from Bitcasa. -
-
Easier 1-liner:
sudo -s 'find /Users/*/Library /Applications /Library -name "*[Bb]itcasa*" -prune -print0 | xargs -0 rm -rfv > /tmp/bitcasa_uninstall_report.txt' -

Why are the Bitcasa developers seemingly incapable of writing a proper uninstaller? What I want is to be able to uninstall this piece of cr*p and get back to EXACTLY where I was before I took the step of infesting my Mac with this nonsense

Uninstaller for Mac. -

I have to give up on BitCasa for now -- again today (this has happened several times) after working for a few hours, found an entire contents of Folder I had been working in to disappear. was able to see files again after closing all applications and logging out of Finder.
First symptom was when trying to save a file I had been working on for an Hour got strange message that couldn't save file...
Please describe safe process and procedure to synchronize all files from cloud Local Stores (Bitcasa promise in Beta was that all files would be stored locally) and steps to safely disconnect all cloudified folders, and exit for Bitcasa.
I'd like this to work and I expect I'll be back when you have the bugs worked out but cannot afford the headaches now.
Thanks. -

Hoping for an easy to follow answer which will provide guidance on:
1. how to synch 'cloudified' files with local files (so two folders are identical)
2. disconnect (seems easy)
3. exit Bitcasa
4. delete Bitcasa
5. expunge any residual files...
all the while preserving INTACT the completely synchronized and complete local folder and all contents... Thanks! -

Just a few minutes ago there was a post saying to simply move the app to the trash. Which is the right way to remove Bitcasa from my system?
Will the terminal code (above) screw anything else up? I ask because it says: Remove kernel drivers (if nothing else depends on fuse): How do I know if anything else I have installed "depends on fuse"? How about a bit more explanation here? What would ALSO be depending on Fuse?
My sense tells me that if I just simply drag the app to the trash (as per staff post a few minutes ago), there will still be a lot of remnant code on my drive.
Bitcasa staff: Please, if you do not offer an uninstaller... be clear on how to uninstall and clean Bitcasa out of my system. -

Hi Blackford,
1. Copy the files to a different folder locally.
*How?? i have 1000's of files cloudified, and there is not bulk copy facility... ridiculous to suggest we copy file by file; how may we copy by Folder?
Please address this issue...
2. Click folder and then the Disconnect Button
2. Bitcasa Menu | Exit Bitcasa
3. Drag Bitcasa to the Trash Can

How dare you not include a simple uninstall process. DropBox FTW.
-
-
stay away from Bitcasa ... amateurs, and unresponsive to reasonable questions above to synch all files before deleting/ uninstalling.
-
-
The command:
rm -rf ~/Library/Caches/com.bitcasa.Bitcasa
can take forever. If you have used the symlink trick to move your cache to another drive, it is faster to erase the entire drive and reformat it than delete the cache (at least when you have a 300GB cache). -

3 months have passed since the question was first answered. Is there a way to safely and easily uninstall Bitcasa on Mac?
And how can I sync both folders (remote and local) in order not to lose all files that were changed since I had the terrible idea to first cloudilfy the folder? Simply disconnecting makes me lose all files that were created or changed in the meantime.
I kept losing newer versions of my work, I can't manage to lose any more of it!!! -

Kevin, I followed your instructions below (pasted from above), but still have 'Bitcasa' annotated folders; i.e. the folders still have the green squares on them, and I cannot actually tell if i'm completely disconnected... my Finder seems to be VERY slow...
Please advise
